India – Hyderabad – 014 – Wild West show at Ramoji Film City

I took this mostly to capture the wicked cheesy sound effects where the punches sound like laser bolts. But it is also a short slice showing what passes for healthy family-oriented action sequences here in India: a guy getting beat up badly and graphically by 4 guys.

One of the highlights of the Film City theme park is their Western Action Adventure Show. It was something else.

It was exactly what I expected after being in India a while: a show scripted right from Universal Studios, but with 10 times the gratutous violence and the sound cranked up 3 times too high.

I used to be worried about the violence shown in American pop culture, but it’s got nothing on the punch and beat-up quotient here, where fight scenes go on for 10 minutes each. Sorry India, but you’re messed up with what you think is normal and healthy in your fight scenes. It is isn’t either.
