Q&A: Doctors Rx?

Question by bubbie_king: Doctors Rx?
I have been getting Tramadol (NON-Narcodic Pain Reliever) For over two years. My Dr. Retired so I had to go to another Dr.

My new Dr. Gladly gives me my pain meds, Arthritis meds, etc…

However, He allows me to get refills of ALL my meds EXEPT the pain meds. He told me that I have to go see him to get the Rx for Pain meds, even though they are non-narcotic. He says it’s policy.

The point is, He allready agrees that I need them, so isnt this extortion? Is he not “Selling” my Rx to me. (I have to pay for office visits upfront). He knows pain is a high motivator, and hes using that against me so I have to return to him once a month and PAY him just to write the script!

With Office visit cost plus gas, I now pay over three times the amount I would pay if I were just paying for my meds.

Is this ok for him to do? Can I do anything?
I have been seeing him for abour five months now, just incase anyone thinks hes just getting to know me.

Some doctors are that way with any pain medications and it’s not right, especially with non-narcotics but that seems to be HIS policy. There’s nothing you can do about it since it’s his policy. The next time you go to him tell him how you feel. You have that right!

If he still makes you see him every month…I would ask for a copy of my records (that same day) and find a different doctor.

Good luck!
