Question by leokodomojih: Is it okay to make a home movie based off of a book?
I want to make a film to enter into a scholarship contest and I am very interested in making a movie version of the book, “Hard Love” by Ellen Whittlinger. Is this illegal? Will I get sued? Thanx for any help you can give.
What about putting it on youtube?

It’s perfectly legal to make a home movie based on previously produced or published material provided it’s for a private viewing and not being exhibited to the general public (either for money or for free). No you won’t get sued unless you invite the general public to see it and not just the scholarship judges.
