independent movie question?

i’m thinking about doing a little independent movie that most likely never see the inside of a movie theater. however, i’ll probably make dvd copies of it for my friends and the people who were in it and helped me make it. if i include a shot of a sign that marks the boundary of a town or city, do i legally have to pay any licensing/filming fees?

Its actually a copyright question youre asking.
Some states like NY have a copyright on their locale, so if you show NY you need to talk to them or they will enforce their copyright protection.

whatever area sign your using, best contact them prior to.

if you show them in positive light, they probably wont make an issue
