I have a question about the tent scene.

What happens is that when Bella is cold and Jacob comes in to warm her in the tent, Bella tells Jacob that she’s so cold. And Jacob says something like “You might get warmer faster if you took off your clothes.” Then he says “Hey! It’s survival 101.”

I don’t understand that. Isn’t taking off your clothes supposed to make a person colder? And WHY would he say that in front of Edward?
