Ok, I’ve been noticing a huge amout of fan videos all over youtube, google, yahoo videos, veoh, vimeo, dailymotion, imeem and all kinds of places. As well as even forums and web-sites for beginner video editors or fans who can submit their own videos.
I’ve also noticed alot of people saying its illegal to do this and that you could go to jail. Although searching for news, archives and stuff, I haven’t found any articles or court cases of people being sued or going to jail for making a harmless/not making movie video.
And being very curious I searched on different search sites and found a few sites where they accept and even give awards to people who make these fan videos.
So, I’m confused on those who say its illegal for those who are getting awards??? And how are these sites who give out these awards stay up?
The more and more I look into this, I’m finding that these fan videos aren’t a major problem. I seriously don’t know the harm in it, considering there is no money going on here.
But I’d like to get some opinions. I’m always open to hear what other people think about issues and stuff.
