I went to a meeting for filmmakers in my hometown. I had just found out about it so it was my first meeting and it was really awkard. There was a filmmaking competition going on and all of the people there were adults(I’m a teenager). To sum up a long story I was out of the loop, it seemed like everybody had their teams, screenplays etc., and no one was paticualry friendly. Anyway the head guy told me to register on the website and look at the posts on the forum and thats how I would figure out who needs people for their team etc., get in the loop. Well I posted something a few days ago but no one has emailed me. I’m wondering if I was asking for too much since they’re all adults and gas prices up etc., so they can’t offer any help etc?. Its makes me sad that no one has responded b/c I really want to do filmmaking and people made it seem like it was a support group where you would get to meet people to help you out. So should I refrashe it? Email people personally?
Post:Hi, okay I’m nervous but hell its the internet, you can’t see me. Okay, I am a high school student who loves films and am interested in making my own. I write screenplays. I have a lot of ideas! However I have absoulutely no support and have no idea where to start. Last time I tried to make a movie it was for a class and I failed miserably b/c no one would be in it, but me, and I had to do everything(the shooting, starring, editing), Sadly, you can’t make a film by yourself. So I would like to know if there are any kind people out there that would show me the ropes. Other directors, actors/actresses etc. etc. who wouldn’t mind helping me out/being a fellow film lover “friend” etc. Sadly I learned about this thing too late and so I missed getting to enter my screenplay into the summer movie thing. Plus at the meeting I went to last (June 19) it looked like everybody knew one another and had their actors/actresses picked out and I felt so awkard and isolated! So I really appreciate it! I have a feeling most of you are much older than me but thats just fine. I can’t really relate to people my own age anyway(Ha, ha) and we’ll meet in a public place and all that good stuff.
