How to download Sony cam clips to mac?

Question by ajriding: How to download Sony cam clips to mac?
I have a Sony Handycam DCR-DVD300. It only has an ouput for USB and S Video (for TV). I can only get still to download to my mac (Tiger OS10.4). From my research so far it seems that the Sony cams are the worst for compatibility. Is there any way to get the video clips into my Mac so I can make movies?
It also seems like I have to have a fire wire. Is there any such thing as USB to fire Wire?
Is there software out there to convert the Sony files to something useable?
I can download this to my PC, but the PC is useless for movie making, and I haven’t been able to transfer the Sonly clips from the PC to the Mac.

no, there is no software and there is no fireport like I said, thats why I am looking for help. Does anyone know of some new software that can change the file type? thanks

hm.. but you have a USB port.. im sure there are programs that came with your cam.. i had an old mini-dv cam.. and it came with software.. but it also has a mini firewire port..
