Good question. Cyrus “The Magnificent” was one of the great people and really “good guys” of history. He gets great reviews in the Bible! But because not many people have heard of him and his achievements, there wouldn’t be much of an audience.
And, of course, we westerners are the cultural descendants of the Greeks, not the Medes and Persians, so Greek history is more relevant. The story of the 300 Spartans is one of the great stories of western civilization.
“Three hundred men from Pelops’ land
against a million here did stand.
Go tell the Spartans, you who’ve read,
we obeyed their laws, and lie here dead.”
(Allegedly the epitaph of Leonidas and his Spartans)
Too bad the movie sucked.
