Q&A: Are sound effects on movie making software copyrighted?
Question by Universal Citizen: Are sound effects on movie making software copyrighted?
When you buy movie making software (like Movie Maker, iMovie, etc …), do you buy the right to freely use sound effects and other files?
Example, I just used background music from iMovie sound effects which came with my package. Should I give credits to ‘iMovie by Apple Inc’?

No the sound effects that come with iMovie are royalty free ones. The only time you either need to give credit or get the copyrights for songs on a movie are when you have purchased the song from iTunes or used a track from your existing music collection that you didn’t create yourself.
