What course should I take up if I want to be a movie stills photographer?
Question by : What course should I take up if I want to be a movie stills photographer?
I’m thinking of going back to school to study photography, but I want to specialize in movie stills/on-set, like during behind-the-scenes in movie-making. I was wondering if they’re going to require a special degree on this, to study some branch of photography I don’t know of, or should studying film also be an advantage? Mainly I’m more interested in still photography, I have no specific eye for actual movie making or working with a video camera.
Also, if you could suggest a photography school, that would be great also! Thanks! 🙂

Step 1. Study Photographer and Cinematography
Step 2. Move to Hollywood
Step 3. Get a part time job to pay bills
Step 4. Build a website/blog
Step 5. Social Network like crazy! (Online and off)
The hardest part is step 5. You will have to try to meet people in the industry. You will have to start with independent films. Do a couple for free if you have to.
In the business of film stills its not what you know but who you know.
