Ideas for a movie that I’m making?!?
Question by Pallu !.!: Ideas for a movie that I’m making?!?
So for my media class, I’m making a movie. And I know it’s really generic, but I want these things in it: tragedy, love, action, and decievement [idk if that’s even a word lol]. And I need an idea for how the world is going to end.. because that’s what the movie will be about. I don’t want it to be a tacky idea so I’m asking you guys for help. And if you have any other ideas, please help! Whomever’s answer I choose, I’ll make sure to credit you in the movie! Thanks for your help!

Ok here’s a sci-fi kind of end of the world idea that hasn’t really been explored on film before. A huge asteroid is passing through the solar system, it isn’t on a collision course with Earth (a la Armageddon), but it passes so close by that the gravitational effects literally tear the world apart. The gravity of the asteroid pulls the oceans out of their beds creating tides that are miles high being dragged across the surface of the planet as it rotates, destroying everything in their path. The earth is pulled and squeezed into an oval shape leading to massive splits in the tectonic plates that cause devastating earthquakes and spout huge super volcanoes blackening the skies with volcanic ash so that the sunlight no longer gets through and all the fresh water is poisoned.
Obviously you cannot create these kind of effects in a low/no budget student movie, but an event like this would be more or less inescapable. There would be nothing the human race could do to avoid it, so you could use the build up to such an event to great effect. How would your characters and society in general react to knowing that their whole world was doomed and there was nothing they could do about it? Would anarchy break out? You could create a lot of dramatic tension in studying how each character would deal with their impending doom without ever having to use a single special effect.
Hope this helps.
