How do I contact a hollywood agent or manager with a movie-making idea?
Question by somak_halder: How do I contact a hollywood agent or manager with a movie-making idea?
Hi, I have some movie-making ideas which will make wonderful movies and get good business too. Now I tried to contact some producers and executives from famous studios (like Paramount, Universal, Disney etc.). But haven’t received much response from them. One such person suggested that ideas and submissions need to be sent to the studios through proper agents and managers. Now my question is who are these agents/managers and how shall I contact them? I know there are various kinds of agents in Hollywood (literary, talent etc.), so exactly what kind of agents was he talking about?
Just an added point, I am not going to write a screenplay or something like that. So please don’t suggest me to join a writer’s community (like writer’s guild). I just want to submit some ideas to the producers/studio executives based on which a good feature film can be made. Sort of acting like an Adviser to the Producers regarding the storyline of a future movie.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Hi guys, I get your point. But I still haven’t got any concrete answer about how to contact those agents. Name of any website, name of a company, name of a directory, anything will help. But please no answers like “get and agent”. You can’t catch any tom-dick-harry from the street and ask him to be your agent. I need a pointer guys!!
Hi Farhan, thanks for your answer. But just to inform you that I don’t need money (atleast right now), but I am doing this for my love of movies an movie industry. And yes, someday I will become a producer or atleast a studio executive (or some other biggie in Hollywood, and I am sure about that); but for the time being I need some contacts. So I think I should contact a literary agent, hire a screenwriter, and then pitch the idea to the producers through the agent. What do you think about it? And yes, for your kind help I invite you all to my Malibu or Newport Beach home in 15 years 😉
Awesome answer Jade. Thanks a ton. I needed some encouragement. Anyways I will try to find the screenwriters, and who knows it might become a good movie. If it does you are invited for the premier;-)

He means YOU have to get an agent or manager to represent you. That means you will have to pay them to present your ideas. Keep in mind that the people you got no response from get 100’s if not 1000’s of people with “great” film ideas trying to contact them every week.
Agents advertise just like everybody else. We can’t pick one for you. If you think you have a good idea then you need to get off your butt and start doing something yourself and stop looking for help here.
