Questions about green screens (for movie making)?
Question by : Questions about green screens (for movie making)?
I’m thinking about purchasing a green screen for my amateur movie making.
But I have a few questions about green screens:
Where do you get one?
How do you use it?
Do you need special software/camera to use it?
If so, what kind of software/camera?
How much do they cost?

The technique is called chromakeying. You can google that for more information.
The color of the background isn’t important. It can be done with any color screen. The important part is to use a screen with a color that isn’t on your actor. If your actor is wearing a green shirt, use a blue screen.
You will need software to do the chromakeying. See my source for three software packages compared.
It does not require a special camera. The screen doesn’t have to be that special. If you have a wall that is one solid color, you can use that, or you can get a big peice of paper from the art store that is one color.
