Lie Down In Darkness is a soulful track of sublime melancholy and symphonic grandeur and the video’s narrative reflects this sense of epic scale, as it follows an astronaut looking back on his life of space travel, journeying through an architecturally heightened London. Shot in contemporary London, the locations for Lie Down in Darkness reference 1960’s and 1970’s periods, recalling modernist and Soviet austerity. The astronaut travels past such iconic London landmarks as the Barbican Centre and Southbank, in a journey of angles and minimalism, tunnels and flashes of dark and light. Visual elements of JG Ballard meet A Clockwork Orange undertones, intercut with sequences depicting outer space.
