Question by Josh: Any fans of Stephen King’s “The Talisman” dying for the movie to come out??
I’m a huge fan of “The Talisman” by Stephen King/Peter Straub.
(Jack Sawyer travelling across the country and the parallel world “the Territories” to save his mother’s life)
I’ve been dying for this to come out every since I read the book years ago (Im a 25 y.o. guy).
Steven Spielberg bought the rights to it in 1984 when it came out to do a movie of it….I’m glad it’s being talked about now, but it’s been kicked back and forth between mini-series and movie, and has been stuck in production hell in either try, and both have pros and cons:
Movie (better budget for effects and stuff, but would have to be long to keep from butchering the story for length issues)
Mini-series (Could give alot more time to develop things, but FX probably wouldn’t be good and it would probably be SEVERLY edited for content, which would suck b/c what makes the story so compelling is what they have to go through). I didn’t know they were making a movie from that book.
edit:
Stanley Kubrik mangled The Shining. It didn’t even resemble the book by the time he was done with it.
