Best Hand to Hand Martial Arts movie ever!?
Question by Iron Jaw Jake: Best Hand to Hand Martial Arts movie ever!?
Has anyone seen the movie Legend of the Drunken Master (Drunken Master 2)? It is, over these years, still my favorite martial arts movie not involving swords or weapons, and I still can’t find any other fairly realistic MA. movies that can compare in terms of clever and powerful hand to hand coreography. It makes most of Jackie’s other movies look cheap and repetitive by comparison, and its pretty dang funny at times too! The only thing that you have to get past is that Jackie is in his 40’s playing a character in his mid twenties.
Still, I’d go as far as saying it is twice as entertaining and just as amazing as Enter the Dragon or anything Jet Li has done. If you haven’t seen it and can’t comment on it, what is your favorite (fairly realistic) hand to hand Martial Arts film? (Make notice if it isn’t easy to find or something.)
Would you say this Gladiator movie is better than Undisputed, the one with Snipes and Ving Rhames?
Hm…guess I’m putting Fist of Legend and Five fingers of death on my netflix list next to 36 chambers and two other classics I’ve heard about, but I was reluctant to try FoL cuz I heard such great things about Once upon a time in China and thought it was overrated a bit, though still pretty good overall. I’ve seen Ong bak, possibly the best I’ve seen since 2004, he is badass but the protector hopefully doesn’t start a completely repetitive, semi-thrillless series of him like Jackie has done since the second RushHour (anyone see the tuxedo? yuck.) Is Cinderella man good? Undisputed was good xept for the sorta boring middle, so if you think its better than that I’ll add it. And thanx everyone, I’ll see if those three or so are as (at least) close to entertaining as LotDM, regardless of how realistic of fights or their technical value.
no I’m not japanese but I kinda know what you mean. But I’m part German and don’t feel shamed to watch WW2 movies lol.
