Can i have someones honest advice on what to do?
Question by Bruce Wayne: Can i have someones honest advice on what to do?
My dream is to be a filmmaker.(not for the money, but because i love the process, hard work and the amazing final result you get from the work)
I am 28 yr old stay at home Dad.
My wife works at night as a nurse and we have 3 kids.
6 yr old (mildly autistic) boy
5 yr old tough and wild girl
9 month old baby girl.
My wife and i decided 4 years ago it was (obviously huh) best for her to return to college and graduate after a 4 year hiatus.
I have never been to college so this was for me an easy decision because she only had 2 years to finish.
I have always loved filmmaking and am always reading and learning on all aspects of filmmaking. Last year i acquired Adobe CS3 and 3d software and have learned alot in one year than i had learned at anytime before by practicing tutorials and watching alot of videos and special features from movies. But sometimes as some stay at home parents know, i don’t have anytime to myself to do anything. I literally wake up at 7:30am everyday. So i start with the breakfast, dishes, sweeping ,more chores and the kids and so my day goes. Most of the time i have is at night when my wife works and the kids are asleep. Sometimes i stay up till 3 am working on tutorials and watching videos on how to’s on filmmaking. I dont hang around with anyone because i don’t work so im just at home.(Im not complaining) I just mean sometimes i start thinking : Should i quit? How will i ever make a film if i dont have any help? My wife supports me in that she doesnt mind if i do it. But i don’t talk to anyone who shares my interests and sometimes that deflating and casts doubts in my mind.
I am a very openminded person and easy to get along with.
I havent quit learning or trying its just,
i don’t know how i can get better or make a film if i don’t have time.
Thank you.
I think right now film school is not an option money wise. That is why i decide for my wife to finsh school since she only needed 2 yrs to finish.
My mother lives 320 miles away.

I really think that you should find a way to attend film school on the weekends. Of course, taking care of your family takes precedence over everything else, which means that it’s going to be hard to balance your family’s schedules.
Or, if you want to go to a film school in the day time, could your parents watch the kids?
I think that it’s AWESOME that you’re a stay-at-home dad! Kudos and blessings to you and I hope that everything works out!
