Changing Role of Models

Changing Role of Models
The start of the 1980s saw the rise to stardom of some supermodels; they were fabulously beautiful women and all of them gained great power and recognition in the fashion and modelling industry. It was for the first time that the fashion models were becoming more famous than the fashion designers; in a way, just as recognizable as many Hollywood figures and stars. With this newfound stardom occurred the concept, for the first time in the history of fashion industry, that a model can enjoy the ability to control her career. They were no longer just some living and breathing mannequins. These models were charting their own destiny and course, and in the process had become multi-tiered brands in due course of time. Although the era of true supermodels has passed, the repercussions it had on the careers of many fashion models and the fashion industry as a whole
remains alive to this day.
Today, fashion designers want to be associated with the best, hottest figures and faces. Models that are lucky to be able to capture the eye of some top designers will definitely see their careers shooting up. Very shortly, they become the exclusive face of that fashion line for many long years to come. Supermodels no longer roam, and this is truly an exciting time to become a fashion model. In today’s world, there is more number of web-based opportunities, thousands of new magazine titles looking for ads, and a revitalized and rejuvenated international fashion and modelling presence that provides models with good opportunities around the globe. It has become more important than ever for models to increase their visibility across various entertainment platforms. This is because many fashion designers now turn to movie stars for
many of their high end photo shoots.
So, what do all these mean to the career scope of an aspiring model? In a sense, there is more competition than ever in the world of fashion and modelling. In another more positive way, there also exist more opportunities for a model to really make an impact on the world of fashion and modelling, and even beyond that. In the 21st century, fashion models are more or less an essential part of the total marketing of fashion products. So when a model is linked to a fashion line or a fashion designer, it raises the model’s profile and puts him more in demand; the exposure fashion models receive is now much greater than that ever existed. There are more chances for models to get the necessary exposure, and they also get paid well.
For a fashion model just starting out, he or she should try and expose themselves
to all aspects of the fashion and modelling industry. One has to analyse and understand the world of fashion and the way marketing is done. And more importantly, do not place mental limits about your self. With a good grasp of your modelling skills, explore other creative venues such as acting, singing, etc. so that you can extend your overall appeal and charisma.
