Childhood Movies — Make a Family Movie Night
In my youth, a family event that I have such fond memories of was those evenings all of us would gather together on a Friday night and watch the old home movies. wholesale electronics shops in those days didn’t have convenient, powerful technology. The old films, mostly showing my brother, sister, and me, provided us a wonderful and happy opportunity to help us remember when we were little. My parents and we kids would watch over and over again the silly antics around the house – birthday parties, holidays, sledding down the hill in the back yard, school presentations, and family vacations.
Of course, the old movies did not have audio – it was just like viewing an a film classic from
the Charlie Chaplin days of silent movies. Electronics wholesaler(s) then couldn’t supply easy to use technology. We kids would usually supply the movie’s running commentary, and generally it was the case that that would make the whole event even more comical. The earliest of the family films were not in color. I can’t even recall what the media technology was that we viewed, but it definitely was not convenient. To watch the movies, Dad or Mom would borrow a projector from the school or from church, or sometimes from a neighbor. We had one of those old movie screens that was stored in the closet.
The movies themselves helped us remember days long gone – happy ones of joyful events – but the process of taking the time to gather, all of us together, and watching the movies as a family was also a wonderful way to make memories in and of itself. Mom would make
popcorn or another snack sometimes, and we would set aside a chunk of time so that the family could spend the whole night viewing the movies.
With the proliferation of movie capability available at your local wholesale electronics shops – it is surprisingly simple in modern times to get a great movie of just about any event you can imagine – We see before us a wonderful chance never before seen. The cameras are easy to take anywhere, easy on the budget, of excellent quality, and easy to operate. The media (DVD especially) are easy to use and store and inexpensive. In addition, it is straight forward to duplicate and distribute family movies to the relatives. One thing that we do with our movies is to duplicate them and keep a set of copies in a safe place like the bank. Should a disastrous event ever strike your residence, you absolutely do not want to end up
losing the family movies!
Perhaps the irony is that now, with such improved movie making technology, the typical family is not taking the opportunities to gather together and watch the old family movies together. When we were younger, it was a special event for us. Perhaps one reason that it was special was that it was so much work to put together the event – finding the projector, etc. The fact that it is so convenient to make happen in these modern times should not lessen the joy of coming together as a family and seeing the old films together.
