City Theatre opens season with comic version of espionage classic
“The 39 Steps” has been described as Alfred Hitchcock meets Monty Python, and it’s no wonder. With three men and one woman playing more than 100 roles, including guys in drag clomping around in heels, espionage, comedy and romance, this can be theater’s version of a flying circus — without a net.
