Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes is number one at the box office and we had Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, writers/producers of the movie on Filmnut to talk about the journey from script to screen. They described working with four time Oscar winner Joe Letteri and his visual effects team at WETA, the same company that worked on Avatar and Lord of The Rings. Further, how they did things with this movie, effects wise, that they had never done before! Andy Serkis, who was the actor behind the digital effects of Gollum in LOTR, again performs masterfully as Caesar, the lead ape in this origin story… Serkis and all of the other actors had to go to “Ape Camp” to gear up for the role. Beyond this film we also talked about the craft of writing and working with the studio.
