Do i need publishing rights to make an amatuer silent hill movie?
Question by Sholle: Do i need publishing rights to make an amatuer silent hill movie?
My friends and i are about to begin making a Silent Hill movie, that more closly fallows the game series. i plan to make a website for it and everything, and we hope to have it be a full length movie. its not a spoof! it doesnt make fun of anything. so. my question is, can we be attacked by any legal issues from the real creators or writers?

I hope not because I’m doing the same thing, only making Silent Hill 2 into a musical :3 I don’t think they can as long as it is considered a fan work (you don’t see people getting slammed for fanfics or fan art.) If you claim the series as your own, then yeah, you probably will or if you try to get money from it. I would think that you would be okay as long as you have a disclaimer somewhere that Silent Hill belongs to Konami, blah blah blah, legal, blah blah. But I’m not sure, I’m just going from common knowledge 🙂 But when it’s done you should totally send me a link to the website! I’d love to watch it!
