Does digital zoom clean-up really exist?

Question by sergiuoxigen: Does digital zoom clean-up really exist?
Is there any software that is able to zoom in a photo and be able to make it clearer after that (so there is no “pixelizing” effect), for example: the software you see in police (FBI or CIA) movies when they zoom in on a photo and are able to see a lot more information after that… For me, it appears to be impossible, but I heard some of my colleagues saying otherwise…

Unless the original image is shot in a super high res and the original image is zoomed out, there is no way to create those pixels in between the actual image information. When we zoom in past the resolution display the computer interpolates, or creates the fill pixes in between.
