E-commerce site section – how to get one for my site?

Question by londonguy80: E-commerce site section – how to get one for my site?
Hi guys
I’m building a site to sell one product. The site is basic HTML as I’m a designer with some coding skills. However I’m new to server side scripting, so I need to either outsource production of an e-commerce section or use a web service (http://www.volusion.com).
I have two questions:
1) Is it worth paying for a freelance developer to produce an ecommerce section for my site (is it very difficult, or something some developers will have pre-existing that they can repurpose?) Also will I have to pay anyone costs for procession transactions? (I have always avoided ecommerce in the past because I don’t know much about it)
2) Is it worth using a company like http://www.volusion.com? Has anyone used another e-commerce providers before – any recommendations?
3) Any advice from any experienced e-tailers
All replies really welcome.
Thanks,
Drew

Single item stores are the only real exception to the rule when choosing a shopping cart solution. Because there is not any real choice in products and very little information to keep track of how you approach a store like this is different then from a store with multiple products. Hosted solutions are not designed to handle them as are most existing scripts. And even if they were since there is so little information to keep track of developing a custom solution is so simple and cost effective to do that you might as well take advantage of the benefits a custom solution offers and you can do so without the delay in development.
