What are some methods for which i can create explosions, gunfire, and other similar effects when editing my movies on the MAC?
Any tricks? SAFE things i can download? Also some gun sound effects would be nice…

Well, the stuff you’re asking for is actually separte from the special effects software. What you tend to do is use special effects software to superimpose already existing shots of explosions and other stuff.
Anyway, Adobe After Effects is widely considered the best video effects program.
