GLOBACOM AWARDS 10 MOVIE STARS 500MILLION NAIRA CONTRACT
As the third largest film industry in the world, Nollywood Stars continue to make waves across national and transnational borders.
Ten of these Movie stars were recently awarded a two-year contract, at a total sum of N500 million by Telecommunications giant, Globacom.
The movie stars, who were selected after a rigorous private screening, are to be paid N50 million each, up front. This also includes being paid for each event the Nollywood stars are invited to attend.
The chosen few that made the Globacom list are Rita Dominic, Monalisa Chinda-Richards, Uche Jombo, Funke Akindele, and Chioma Akpotha.
Others are Mike Ezeruonye, Jim Iyke, Ramsey Noah, Desmond Elliott, and Nonso Diobu . Aren’t they lucky?
These actors and actresses have been making waves in the movie industry in Nigeria in recent
times. For instance, Uche Jombo has featured in movies interpreting roles for some time now and is planning to get married to Uche Ikechukwu, a footballer, very soon. Monalisa Chinda Richards the beautiful actress first made her major appearance on TV in the weekly Soap Opera “Heavens Gate” a few years ago. She has since been a regular in Nollywood movies. Rita Dominic was not long ago crowned Best Dressed Actress in Nollywood.
While Funke Akindele became a household name with the TV series I Need To Know. She is presently one of the leading female actresses in Yoruba movies. Funke was also the lead actress in the Yoruba movie, Jenifa, which won her the Future Awards recently.
Sources claim that Ramsey Noah is the second highest paid actor in Nollywood, as he gets N1.5 million per script. As for Desmond Eliot, Jim Iyke, Mike Ezeruonye and Nonso
Diobu, you will agree with me that they are all great guys in their field, and they also enjoy a large fan base within and outside the country.
Although sources close to the telecommunications firm did not state the criteria used for selecting the newly appointed ambassadors, however rigorous exercise was done for months before the final list was released. The list speaks for itself, as the chosen actors and actresses are seasoned professionals who have made remarkable mark in their field.
