Assisted Fishing is an independent comedy film shooting in May 2010. It stars Derek Haugen as Dewey Winfield. This video is meant to introduce Dewey to potential investors in the film. Assisted Fishing Logline: A 30’s something loser dreams of finding fame and fortune by beating his arch-rival in a big fishing tournament, but in order to win he will need the help of some unlikely heroes – a group of abused senior citizens who have given up on life. Synopsis: Lifelong loser Dewey Winfield dreams of beating his arch-rival Jimmy “The Bait King” Valentine in a fishing tournament. Jimmy has it all – money, girls, boats and a successful company selling “Bait King” fish bait. Dewey has only his passion for fishing and his one dream. Dewey has developed his own fish bait that he thinks will bring him fame and fortune – electrified pickles. In order to enter the fishing tournament and beat Jimmy, unemployed Dewey needs to come up with the entrance fee. When the job opportunity knocks, Dewey jumps at the chance to watch over some senior citizens at an assisted living facility for one week. The seniors have been living under an abusive woman they call “The Dragon Lady”. Under her long list of rules, they each live dark isolated lives. With Dewey in charge, the rules are broken and the seniors get a glimpse of freedom and sunshine when he takes them all fishing. Dewey finds that he needs the seniors to beat Jimmy, but …
