How are you supposed to know which movie-making equipment is compatible with which camera (like the DVX100A)??
Question by platinum steve: How are you supposed to know which movie-making equipment is compatible with which camera (like the DVX100A)??
Hi everyone. Since I’m not having any luck getting my spec script read by agencies and prod companies (and trust me, i’ve gone through a huge list and made sure I played the whole thing by the books) over the past few months, I feel like I’m running out of options and have finally decided… screw it, I’m going the Kevin Smith route and doing it myself.
It’s a low budget horror pic (high concept though, of course), it’s not a short or anything like that, I’m talking about a feature length script, 90 pages/minutes. It takes place completely in a subway station. Anyways, I’ve never shot anything before but I’m going to learn now. I’ve done my research on which cameras to use and I personally find that the DVX100A is the best one for this project. However, I don’t want to select the wrong equipment so I’m wondering which lighting/sound/editing & effects program/the right computer/etc. basically EVERYTHING in terms of equipment that is compatible with the DVX100A?
Any help would be great, thanks

I think you’re way ahead of anyone out here. I don’t think you can expect to select the best everything the first time. Sometimes you just have to jump in and make some mistakes to learn. Maybe you could get a job with a larger film maker and learn..
