how come this will not go into windows movie maker?
Question by TheNardCake: how come this will not go into windows movie maker?
Well i finally figured out how to get my ipod camera videos to my computer (nano 5th gen.). So now i have a whole seperate file where i can view them whenever (only certian ones) even when my ipod is not plugged in. So im trying to make a movie in Windows Movie Maker with these videos but whenever i drag it in it just says something like this is not the right kind of file you have to download and install some codec and if you already did shut down and restart windows movie maker. What in the world does that mean?!?!?!? I already shut it off and reopended it many times it still won’t work what do i do and what is this codec thing i am supposed to download?

Apple uses a format to encode the videos called H.264, the same format used by YouTube and many other websites. However, companies have to pay to be able to use H.264. Microsoft didn’t license the ability to play those videos until Windows 7 so unless you can find a codec (a program that tells Windows how to play those files), Windows Movie Maker can’t understand those videos.
