How do you make videos be recognized by different programs?

Question by (= nelle: How do you make videos be recognized by different programs?
Right now I’m trying to combine different video clips into one full length project. I took the clips on a digital camera, and when it’s loaded through Kodak easy share software, it creates a quick time file. But the only thing i have on my computer to edit clips is called “Windows Movie Maker” and it doesn’t accept the files. Is there anything i can do to change the files to make them work with the program?

You need to get something that is compatible with both.
Quick Time is APPLE. You cannot convert Apple to Microsoft & vice versa.
