How does mail addressed in foreign scripts (alphabets) get delivered?

Question by diavolinoperso: How does mail addressed in foreign scripts (alphabets) get delivered?
Say a Russian mailed a letter to me in the US using his native script…would the Russian post office translate or ours or would it just be returned?

You put the detailed address in the script of the recipient, but the destination country should be written in the script of the country of origin.
