Okay some of you in the Pure Science area of expertise have probably seen the movie, . . . How much do you think it was scientifically tangible?
I’m no scientist, but I found that it was full of holes.
Okay, given that they build a bunch of boats to survive what a big flood. Why did they decide to make a course for Africa, if under the premise that it never flooded, then wouldn’t they be in danger from the current strife from the indigenous war lords ruling the greater parts of Africa?
Why didn’t they just plot a course back to another part of the globe where there will be residual infrastructure to pick up the pieces and start over?
Also, anyone that lives on the coast, probably has a boat okay? Why didn’t it take into account that most sailors would know enough to point their boat into an on coming wave so that it wouldn’t be capsized, so that it could ride through a large wave. Most captains of large ocean going vessels would do so during big storms. Most any big boat’s skipper would point their boat into a big wave than go cowering under the table just because they saw a big wave bearing down on them.
As long as they could ride past the first “set” they could easily ride out the rest of the residual surges. So there would be survivors, wouldn’t there?
And what about the submarines, there are still a bunch of them cruising around you would figure, they only have to go deep and ride it out without a care in the world.
Near the end of the movie, you saw a super carrier being bowled over the white house, you would of figured after all the simulations they did, the higher ups would of ordered their naval assets out to sea in the hope of that they could save those naval assets for use after the calamity. Because thats what they’re used for in peace time.
I wonder how much of the movie was simply shot just for the action and how much was it based on actual science.
So,… what are the Astrophysicists at the Neutrino detectors saying,… by the way.
And is the next full planetary alignment really going to occur next year?

The movie didn’t have holes in it. To have holes, a movie must contain something of substance against which to contrast the hole. 2012 is totally lacking in this respect.
