How to make a Movie I made with Windows Movie Maker on Vista work on XP?

Question by Blah B: How to make a Movie I made with Windows Movie Maker on Vista work on XP?
For science class I was responible for making a video for our final project. I made the video using Windows Movie Maker on Vista. Then I put it on my USB to bring to school. At school the video wouldn’t work because at school we have Windows XP. Is there a way so it will work?

You haven’t saved it as a MOVIE yet. If you moved the MSWMM file from one computer to another it won’t work. It doesn’t matter if it’s Vista, XP or whatever. MSWMM files are project files, they don’t contain the actual images, only references to them and their settings.

Go to the original movie (the Vista one) and Publish it (from the File menu). Click File, then Publish… follow the prompts and note the location of the end product (probably the Videos) folder. The finished movie will be a WMV file that you can play on any Windows computer.
