I absolutely hate iMovie. Are there any free video editing alternatives before I get out the broken PC?
Question by Tori: I absolutely hate iMovie. Are there any free video editing alternatives before I get out the broken PC?
I’m a Graphic Design student, so I’m familiar with the basics of video editing and the iMovie format just makes me angry. I’m sure it’s fantastic for putting together home movies, but I’m not doing that. I’m doing a slideshow of various sketchbook scans and animations with a voiceover. For this iMovie is infuriating. I do not have After Effects or Premiere at home, and I don’t even need anything that advanced anyway, I’m perfectly happy to tween things in Photoshop. I cannot believe I am saying this, but I would love Microsoft Movie Maker right now so I could just stick ’em all into slots and put the audio over it. That’s all I want. It will take me a couple of minutes with the right software. Why does this have to be so bloody stupid? Why doesn’t the bloody thing have a feasible bloody timeline? What the hell is wrong with it? I mean, am I actually just being an idiot? Have I actually missed something? Am I too used to Adobe? I hate it. If my PC laptop wasn’t an Acer with a Vista OS, and therefore completely useless in more ways than one, I would have used that by now and I could go out for a drink that I really, really, really, really, really need.

Camtasia is really easy to use.. grab the 30 day trial.
The old version of iMovie from 5+ years ago was awesome. They stripped it to crap.
Also I Googled “free online video editing” and got some results you could try.
