I am in need to know what type/make/model Lightning McQueen is from the movie cars?

Question by Brian L: I am in need to know what type/make/model Lightning McQueen is from the movie cars?
I did some research and some say it is to resembl the Ford GT or Lola!. One even says it resembles a Corvette, Can some one tell me what kind of car it is?
I know it has a corvette front end and a Viper rear end, but the story is based on a true story. The driver drove a ford GT. If the story is based on that driver then why does the car not resemble the GT?

It’s not any one car, and definitely not like a Ford GT, which would be mid engine – lightning is clearly front engine. Some of the cars in that movie were obvious – like the Porsche or Fiat 500, but not this one.

It has cues from numerous cars – there is no one answer to your question.

EDIT – I’ve never heard that Lightning’s character/story is based on an actual driver – the town of radiator springs is a combination of many towns in the US that were hurt by the switch from US 66 being the main rd vs various interstates.

If you have any link on this story, I’d be curious. Even if Lightning was based on an old Ford GT driver, the decision to use NASCAR Sprint cup type racing in this movie for the Piston cup would have forced the cars to be front engined, so you could never get a front engined car to look like a GT, the proportions would be all wrong, so they clearly didn’t try since Lightning looks nothing like a GT
