I want to start making movies…my camera?

Question by sykopenguin4292: I want to start making movies…my camera?
Me and my three best friends are all really passionate about films, and since we all want to become movie makers in adulthood, we want to start making movies now. (We are all 16). We have lots of stories planned out and such, but we only have on camera, and it is a very old style sony handycam 8 that still uses tapes. We want to all combine our money to get a really nice camera that is digital, and it has to have great picture quality and sound, and preferably a wide camera angle lens… We want it to be really good that will last us a long time. Thanks so much =D

Used Canon HV20…is about $ 400-$ 500. It shoots in high definition. I have one, as well as thousands of filmmakers who give it praise.
If you can’t afford that, get any MiniDV format. Stay away from DVD or miniDVD and even harddrive. MiniDV is the cheapest, most wildly accepted format.
Or…to start off you can get an Analog to Digital Video Camera converter.
It’s a little box with the Red-Yellow-White plugs(RCA cables) that goes into your computer through USB. It will digitize any old tapes.
