Dev Anand plays role of Inspector Dinesh who goes undercover in order to infiltrate a gang headed by Madan Puri that is counterfeiting banknotes. In the course of his investigation he meets the seductive gangster bride Helen and gets romantically entangled with a female reporter Renu played by Madhubala. He also makes a discovery of shocking personal significance.
