Les Misérables: Confrontation – JD Justice & Robert Harsch
)))STEREO((( – www.youtube.com “The Confrontation” from “Les Misérables” with Robert Harsch (Basso9x13) as Javert and James D. Justice II (jdjustice72) as Jean Valjean. The music tracks were recorded on the 8-track Sequencer on Robert’s Korg T-1 Music Workstation, around 1993 or ’94. In July 2008, I asked JD if he was interested in trying a long-distance duet collaboration. Turns out the biggest difficulty was not JD being in North Carolina & me in Montana, but rather that he’s a Mac & I’m a PC. I re-worked my arrangement a bit, using my Korg Triton for some new sounds, then sent JD WAV files of the music & my vocal track & a video file of my vocal recording session. JD added his vocal & sent me back a mixed audio track and a video of his recording session. Then I tried a few different methods of assembly, finally downloading freeware conversion software, making 2 different conversions of JD’s video (one lost sync when I was almost done editing) and putting it all together in Windows Movie Maker (which always seems to be more difficult & frustrating than it should be). Music by Claude-Michel Schönberg Lyrics by Alain Boublil & Herbert Kretzmer Based on the Novel by Victor Hugo (The video credits read “Clàude-Michel” because I mistook a speck on my CD booklet for an accent.)
