Making FFXI laptop-friendly (For the less tech-savvy users)
I apologize for not including voice narration, I have no mic. Most of the people I know love to use laptops, such PC games like FFXI requires you to use the numpad…which laptops don’t have. Every game configs should have options that lets you remap the key settings but I’ll do FFXI for my friend that’s having trouble with her current config. 1st.) open up the menu by holding the FN (function key) that’s on your bottom left side and press whatever key that has a blue numpad minus symbol. Every laptop model has them in a different position so I don’t know where to tell you exactly. 2nd.) click on the side arrows that’s next to the “Status” button that you see on this vid to go to the second page of the menu. 3rd.) click on the button “Config” to go in to the in-game FFXI options. 4th.) As you can see what I’m doing, click on the “Misc 2” button. That will take you to the option that every laptop user wants. 5th.) After you go in, look for the option “Keyboard Type” and set the option to “Compact” notice a window will pop-up when you mouse-over that button, it shows you the simplified modifications that will happen when you set it. Press it and it’ll be underlined in red if you did it right. 6th.) Now exit out the menu and feel the difference. Since you made FFXI to work well in Laptops, there’s need to worry about Numpads, things will be easy now. Hope this vid helps in any way. If anyone has a better help vid than this one, please don’t hesitate to post a vid response.
