And do you have any suggestions? Problem is, we are of course limited and just know we’ve got the effects i.e. smoke machine for action scenes on fields. We just need a plot.

Well you need a POV–Point Of View. Who’s telling the story? What do you want to say? Do you just want to shoot blood & guts? Then it’s probably from the viewpoint of a soldier. General or foot soldier? Good side or bad side? What’s your time period? A past war or futuristic?
Umm, I know, that’s a lot of questions, but that’s some of the things to think about.
