This is one of the common things i have heard against medical marijuana.
If you feel this way…
Do you also feel the same about medical opium? Medical heroine? Medical cocain? Medical ecstacy? (mdma is a legit pharmaceutical used in other countries) Medical lsd?
ALL of those drugs and many others that are illegal recreationally are legal and used every day in the world of medicine. Several of those are derivitives for several more narcotic perscriptions.
NyQuil is abused on the street, but sold over the counter to anyone over 18. And when abused, is far more dangerous than marijuana.
Some people have also said that its because those other meds are dosed out and controlled while med marijuana isnt. But neither are any of the other the counter meds that are used recreationally.
So, why is it only medical marijuana users who are considered druggies, but not those who use these other scripts and meds?
Im sorry, can you explain how pointing out a double standard is a straw mans argument?
I just want to know what the difference is. All those are illegal, more dangerous, but used medicinally. Marjuauna is illegal, less dangerous, but not allowed to be used medically?

What is it about marijujana that makes it different?
From my perspective, it should be the other way around.
I also know this is not the only reason people have against it. But it IS one of the reasons I have heard, and hear often.
And if you need me to prove I am not making a straw mans argument, I can pull up the questions I have answered from people who actually believe that med marijuana is just for druggies who want their drugs.

The claim I have read is that those other drugs work better.
Yeah, sure, morphine will make me feel a lot less pain than marijuana, but morphine will leave me so f’ed up I cant function. I cant even hold a conversation.
So for ME, that someone can call someone using medical marijuana a druggie, but not someone using medical morphine, is bizarre

No, it’s not just for druggies who want to get high. Medical marijuana has many benefits with less harmful side effects than many other medications have.
