Movie making program for windows 7.?

I was wondering if anyone knew of movie making programs that would work for windows 7 that wouldn’t break the bank.
my computer did not come with windows movie maker because my friend said when she upgraded from xp to 7. Her movie maker stop working.

You could always use Windows movie maker, but honestly its terrible.
I personally use Adobe products for movie making/editing but there expensive.
Sony products like Vegas are very good and an low price for the type of software it is and what it can do. You also have to take into consideration of whether you computer can actually handle it, video software can become very resource hungry when playing back in side the player.
