My Left Foot
This cinematic masterpiece is the brilliant portrayal of legendary Irishman Christy Brown (Daniel Day-Lewis) who, despite crippling cerebral palsy, learned to use his one controllable extremity — his left foot — to become an accomplished artist and writer. The Miramax Collector’s Series proudly presents the release of the acclaimed motion picture that won Academy Awards® in 1989 for Best Actor (Daniel Day-Lewis) and Best Supporting Actress (Brenda Fricker) and earned Oscar® nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay (1989).
On his way to Las Vegas to pay back some bookies who have already taken two of his fingers for late payment, small-time hustler Bobby Cooper (Sean Penn) thinks he’ll soon be in the clear. Unfortunately, Bobby’s car breaks down, which leads him into the small and very strange town of Superior, Arizona. With no money, Bobby finds himself trapped there with no way to get his car fixed. When Bobby meets up with the beautiful Grace McKenna (Jennifer Lopez) and her powerful husband Jake (Nick Nolte), the goal of fleeing town vanishes in the need of simply surviving. Jake offers Bobby money to kill Grace. Then Grace asks Bobby to get rid of Jake. Both offer him a way out-kill one for the other. The stakes are high as Bobby is locked into a deadly game of lust, madness and money. MPAA Rating: R © 1997 Phoenix Pictures Inc. All Rights Reserved.
