My Own Private Idaho: Street Map

If you haven’t seen this film yet, you have to! I found this song and felt it fit perfectly. The film is amazing, and very relatable. At the center its about unrequited love (who can’t relate to that?). River Phoenix is fantastic, as is Keanu Reeves, and the script combines modern storytelling with Shakesperean dialogue. Its truly a unique film, and one of my all time faves. The film is about two street hustlers, Mike and Scott. Scott is mearly selling himself on the streets to anger his rich father, while Mike has no where else to turn. Their loyalty to each other stands out against a variety of challenges when they decide to find Mike’s mother who abandoned him at a young age. The scene I used as a quote is, in my opinion, the best scene in the history of film. Quote: Mike-Id like to talk to you, Id like to really talk with you. I mean we’re talking right now, but I know don’t…I don’t feel like I can..I don’t feel like I can be close to you. What do I mean to you? Scott-What do I mean to you? Mike you’re my best friend. Mike-We’re good friends and its good to be you know, good friends. Scott-I only have sex with guys for money. Mike-Yeah, I know. Scott-And two guys can’t love each other. Mike-Yeah. Well, I don’t know, I mean for me I could love someone even if I wasn’t paid for it. I love you, and you don’t pay me. Song: Street Map, by Ahtlete Film: My Own Private Idaho
