I have to choose a good book to read that i have to do an essay on. Using whatever is in the book i have to choose the theme and make up a thesis based on it. I also have to include other things that relate to the specific theme that are in movies/magazines/newspapers, etc. Anyone have any good ideas? I could do a book on racism and then relate it to the movie Crash…but thats just one idea….hmm…

To Kill a Mockingbird…relates to the changes in the south (with “Scout” having such a mind of her own and using it), as well as the racial prejudice in place at that time. You can even get a cheat sheet for that one! It’s a classic story of the south and it’s changes and it’s resistance to change.
Scout represents the “new” southern woman.
