I only remember the ending scene, whereby it showed the main character making his way to the “edge of the world” – a very tall cliff overlooking the ocean – and waits for sunrise. When the sun appears there is an exchange of warm air and cold air and it shows a specactular scene similar to like ocean waves of air overlapping the horizons.

Can anyone remember the name of the movie? Help would be greatly appreciated!

I think you might be thinking of “The Gods Must be Crazy”. Did the guy at the end of the movie go there to trow a coke bottle over the edge?
