New video editing software?

Ok. Well I’ve recently taken interest in making videos. I really like editing them. I currently have windows movie maker which is a piece fo crap, so I was going to see if anyone knew of a nice editing program and the approximate price. also, do you buy it online, or from stores, or both? I’ve heard Vegas is good, but I really don’t know. I want soemthing will cool effects, and lots of diferent options that really spice up the video. Thanks so much!
It is a piece of crap. If you look at all the things you can do with other editors, it really sucks. I don’t see how you’re answering my question. Perhaps a report is in need here huh?
