People Wanting to Join Avon – How Do You Find Them?

Most network marketers get really excited when they first join a company. After all, they liked the product, the compensation plan, or the people or all three. After a few days, the majority of them start asking themselves the following question ‘where do you find people wanting to join Avon?’

The answer is simple. But first let us go over what the people who are failing are doing. Why? it makes sense to not copy their mistakes.

First, most network marketers start with their friends and family or they make a list of 100 people. They then learn a script and start pitching their business opportunity to them. Often times this leads to rejection and is the main cause for most burnt out people in the industry.

Then there’s cold calling. People buy generic business opportunity leads and go through the same, only it’s worse since strangers have no pity on them. Sometimes they even buy a lead who actually pitches their own opportunity.

Even though these strategies do generate ‘some’ business, the problem is the majority of the time they result in cold hard rejection.

Think of it this way. Would a divorce attorney cold call their friends and family to see if they are planning a divorce and look for business? They don’t. They only work with people who are already planning a divorce and don’t have to convince them to start one.

Well similarly, you should only work with people who are already interested in buying your product or join your business opportunity. People are information seekers when they are in the market to buy anything other than a convenience product. For example, home buyers seek information on buying a home when they are about to make a purchase. They seek this information in the real estate classifieds, websites, and other publications.

Similarly, people wanting to join a business opportunity seek information and your job should be to position yourself in the mediums where these people look for information and offer them what they want. Simple.

I’m a very quiet polite person that’s very introverted. I’ve suffered from anxiety and depression which isn’t as bad as it used to be but I still worry and get extremely paranoid, I have little self-esteem and confidence. My mum got me a job at her work but in a different department. I have to make cold calls to hundreds of places trying to sell appointments. Something where you have to be very confident and assertive. Two things I’m not. Reading the script feels extremely uncomfortable and I usually mess up what I’m saying. Today was my first 6 hour shift. I managed to get some appointments but I hated every minute of it. Now I’m at home I’m reflecting on how stupid I sounded. I’ve felt sick to my stomach all day, I can’t eat, I probably can’t sleep, I’m dreading going back. I’m absolutely petrified to the point I feel physically ill. I’m so worried to look like a quitter if I don’t go back, or let my mum down. It also pays extremely well seeing as I’m not even 21 yet (£8 p.hour) which will be extremely useful when I go back to university in September… I really don’t know what to do 🙁 Everyone is saying it’ll get better, stick at it for the week but I’m just getting so stressed and all the feelings from before are rushing back 🙁

i have suffered with the exact same problems and very similar jobs in life. my first inclination would be to tell you that no amount of money is worth risking your health (sanity!) over, and your mom will understand if you explain your reasons…she’s your mom, after all. 🙂

however, in realizing that jobs are very hard to come by these days, especially well-paying ones, you might want to consider talking to your doctor about low dose adderall…yes, the same med used for those with ADD/ADHD is now being recommended by many mental health professionals for reducing social and/or performance anxiety — which sounds like what you’re experiencing. by reducing your anxiety, you will also likely suffer less from depression.

i must’ve tried 30 different meds with no success (including benzos, SSRI’s, etc)…until finally reading up on adderall and asking my doctor to let me try it….my anxiety had gotten so bad by that point, i couldn’t even use my *own* phone, let alone anyone else’s.

within 42 minutes of taking the very first low dose pill (10mg), my anxiety was completely GONE. not only could i handle any phone call with complete confidence, i also was instantly able to speak in front a group of 500 people, with NO PROBLEM!

that was several years ago — and adderall still works just as well today, at the same low dose…so long as i remember to TAKE it, that is, lol.
