Q&A: Goodfellas Movie: Does the garlic trick actually work?
Question by Ron T: Goodfellas Movie: Does the garlic trick actually work?
This may sound kinda funny but I was wondering if it was true. In the movie Goodfellas, when the main character is in jail he talks about how when you make marinara sauce for pasta, if you cut the garlic with a box cutter, you can cut such a thin slice that the garlic liquifies in the sauce. Is that true? I don’t think I would do it though even if it was true because first why use box cutters on garlic lol? And I usually saute the garlic and onions first, makes it taste better.

yes, you can cut the garlic so thin that it will basically dissolve in the sauce. You can use a razor blade for this.
